The Rob Clutton Trio
Toronto-based double bassist Rob Clutton formed the trio in 2017, having a long history of collaboration with these players in various projects: with saxophonist Ng since 2012, and with drummer Fraser since the mid-90s. Each of these musicians is a composer/performer with exceptional creative abilities; this makes for a dynamic ensemble character as they explore the spaces between composition and improvisation, movement and stillness, jazz and chamber music.  Counsel of Primaries was the trio’s debut recording, and was released in 2020 to acclaim from numerous critics from across Europe and North America.

Gennaro/Mulder/Stadhouders
Mike Gennaro is a percussionist from Toronto known for his rapid-fire collaborations with the likes of John Butcher, Alex Ward, John Russell and Mats Gustafsson.  On this occasion, Gennaro will perform in trio with pianist/multi-instrumentalist Nora Mulder on an instrument of her own creation – the Parp Remote – and guitarist Jasper Stadhouders.

Bioluminus

Bioluminus is a combustion machine of musical ideas and interaction. Ada Rave’s tenor playing has always boasted a voluminous tone and great control over extended techniques, but this trio, with bassist Aaron Lumley and drummer Onno Govaert, allows her to emphasize her melodic and harmonically based playing which is full of grit and vigor, to say nothing of the rhythmic interplay amongst the three equal partners. This could be called energy music, but just as fittingly be described as deep listening music.
