Big Noses represents a new generation of improvisers in Amsterdam, with multinational backgrounds, virtuoso command of their instruments and a healthy creative carelessness attitude of what comes out of it. In their music they are moving as if through quantum leaps between jagged landscapes of acoustic noise to abstracted melodic statements interjected with silences. The trio is drenched in the ethos and idea of true musical improvisation where they embrace the unknown without any safety nets. They are deriving their musical DNA from contemporary classical music, free jazz and their individual studies of the physicality of their instruments.

Marcus Wärnheim – alto saxophone
Pietro Elia Barcellona – double bass
Thomas Jaspers – drums and percussion

Vera Morais / Siebren Smink

Vera Morais is an improviser/singer/composer from Portugal. Active in the European music scene with groups such as EUPNEA, Novelo Vago, Vera Morais & Hristo Goleminov and her latest release ‘é apenas um pouco tarde’. Vera will be joined by guitarist/composer Siebren Smink, Indieboy, Jazzlover and instant composing enthousiast, active in Areia, Meander Trio, Äktaro, Melqui and Chaerin Im Quartet. They don’t exactly know yet what they’ll play. Partly because their music will have improvisation and partly because last minute decisions are often the most creative.
